Spreading Hai Phong’s culture to international friends
In the process of international integration, culture is increasingly affirming its role as a bridge to promote images and expand cooperation. Hai Phong is making its mark with many outstanding events, spreading its unique identity to friends around the world.

Promotion through major events
Hai Phong is gradually affirming its unique appeal to international friends as a locality rich in both tangible and intangible heritage, with diversity in arts and craft villages that create a vibrant and abundant cultural foundation.
At the exhibition “80 Years of the Journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness” recently held at the National Exhibition Center in Ha Noi, Hai Phong’s zone showcased its socio-economic achievements and especially distinctive cultural features, leaving a strong impression on local people and many international visitors.
In addition to cultural artifacts and products, Hai Phong also presented elaborate art programs, which were highly appreciated by visitors from many localities in Vietnam and international friends. “Through the performances, I could clearly feel the vitality of Hai Phong’s traditional arts and learn more about this land,” said Ha Dang Dung from Ha Noi.
Earlier, in July 2025, Hai Phong hosted the 3rd meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC III). The event gathered leaders and businesses from 21 APEC economies. Not only did Hai Phong carefully organize all activities, but the city also viewed this as an opportunity to promote its beautiful nature, friendly and open people, unique cultural traditions, and outstanding tourism potential.
Within the framework of the conference, many impressive art programs were held such as water puppetry, quan ho (love duet singing), instrumental folk ensemble, etc., leaving a strong impression on delegates and international friends.
Also within the conference, spouses of the delegates visited Chu Dau pottery village and Lan Ha bay. Directly experiencing and exploring natural beauty left them with unforgettable memories. “The ceramic products are very delicate. When I painted patterns myself, I could truly feel the sophistication and cultural depth of Vietnam,” said Hiromi Okase from Japan.

Along with hosting major events, as well as cultural exchanges with many countries in the region and the world, the city has always maximized opportunities to promote the values, depth, and outstanding features of the culture of this coastal land.
Driving force for development and integration
For culture to become a driving force for development, many cultural experts believe that Hai Phong needs to accelerate digital transformation in heritage promotion, from digital museums and virtual tours to AI and AR applications in multiple languages.
Regional linkages should be strengthened to form “inter-provincial heritage” tours connecting Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. International cooperation also needs to be deepened, inviting international artists and experts to participate in local festivals.
Another important direction is building high-quality cultural human resources. Artists should not only excel in traditional arts but also master foreign languages and communication skills. In addition, businesses should be encouraged to accompany event organization, while multi-channel communication should be strengthened to create a synergistic effect.
Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized: “Political and economic events are golden opportunities for Hai Phong to promote its image to domestic and international friends, especially in introducing scenic spots. Among Vietnam’s nine UNESCO-recognized world natural heritage sites, Hai Phong has two. This shows that Hai Phong’s development is grounded in cultural depth, creating a unique appeal to welcome friends from home and abroad.”
