Enterprises in Dai An industrial park urged to pay greater attention to workers
Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Council Bui Duc Quang has recommended enterprises in Dai An industrial park to pay greater attention to improving workers’ incomes.
The Culture and Society Board of the Hai Phong People’s Council supervised the implementation of policies and laws for workers in the 2021–2024 period at Hyundai Kefico Vietnam Co., Ltd. and Namyang Delta Co., Ltd. in Dai An industrial park on September 11.
Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Council Bui Duc Quang acknowledged and highly appreciated the business leaders’ efforts in ensuring stable employment and implementing policies and laws for workers.
Emphasizing that workers are a valuable asset of enterprises, he urged the companies to further improve incomes and facilities such as workshops, canteens, and rest areas, to ensure better working and resting conditions for employees.
He particularly encouraged the enterprises to allocate resources to invest in housing for workers, helping them stabilize their lives, contributing to attracting and retaining labor and fostering sustainable enterprise development.
Hyundai Kefico Vietnam Co., Ltd., established in 2009, is a member of Hyundai Motor Group in the Republic of Korea. The company specializes in research, development, and production of high-tech electronic products and engine control systems.
It has 2,298 out of 2,307 employees under contract. Women account for 50% of the workforce, and 26.4% have college or university degrees. The average monthly income per worker exceeds 15.4 million VND. Overtime pay, bonuses, and allowances are fully implemented.
The company also pays attention to support policies for female employees and those with small children, as well as providing assistance with transportation and housing costs. Its trade union has been established and effectively protected workers’ rights. Since establishment, the company has not experienced any labor disputes or strikes. It is also the only FDI enterprise in western Hai Phong having a Party cell.
Meanwhile, Namyang Delta Co., Ltd. is a 100% Korean-invested enterprise engaged in apparel design, production, and business. The company employs 1,439 workers, 90.1% of whom are women. A total of 1,399 employees are covered by social, health, and unemployment insurance. The average monthly income per worker is 7.6 million VND.
Members of the supervision delegation asked the two companies to provide further information and clarification on overtime policies and insurance; housing construction for workers; measures to mitigate fine dust and noise in production workshops; as well as timely wage payment and occupational safety.
Nguyen Thanh Trung, Head of the Culture and Society Board of the city People’s Council, took note of the businesses’ opinions and recommendations. The delegation will compile a report for the city Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee, with specific proposals to help resolve the enterprises’ difficulties.
