Hai Phong port ranked among world’s top 100 busiest container ports
Hai Phong port has been named in the list of the world’s top 100 container ports in 2025, ranked by cargo throughput, according to the UK-based Lloyd’s List.

The UK magazine Lloyd’s List has released its 2025 ranking of the 100 busiest container ports worldwide. Notably, three Vietnamese ports made the list, namely Ho Chi Minh city, Hai Phong, and Cai Mep.
Hai Phong port ranks 29th globally, with cargo throughput reaching nearly 7.1 million TEU, placing it second among Vietnam’s ports, after Ho Chi Minh city (22nd worldwide with nearly 9.1 million TEU). The other Vietnamese port in the list is Cai Mep, which ranks 30th with almost 7 million TEU.
Ho Chi Minh city, Hai Phong, and Cai Mep ports are also Vietnam’s three largest seaports, classified as special-class ones. Among them, Hai Phong and Cai Mep are planned as gateway ports combined with international transshipment functions, capable of handling large container vessels, helping to reduce logistics costs.
Recently, these three ports were also listed among the world’s top 50 container ports by cargo volume in 2024, according to DynaLiners Millionaires. Their achievement placed Vietnam 6th among countries with the largest container throughput worldwide.
