According to the Hai Phong Department of Agriculture and Environment, the city is carrying out five forest planting projects, covering both mainland and island areas.
These include the Project on Coastal Forest Restoration and Development in Cat Ba Archipelago, Hai Phong (2016–2020); the Project on Forestry Modernization and Coastal Resilience Improvement; the Project on Replacement Afforestation for Forest Areas Converted to Other Purposes in 2018; the Replacement Afforestation Project for forest land cleared to build a martyrs memorial on Thien Van mountain, Kien An district; and the Mangrove Afforestation Project to compensate for forest areas cleared for the project to upgrade and expand the Cat Hai–Cat Ba road (Cai Vieng–Moc Trang section).
The implementation of these projects will contribute to improving forest productivity and quality, including about 400 ha of production forest replanted after harvesting; 520,000 scattered trees, comprising timber and shade trees; 1,107.56 ha of forest under assisted natural regeneration; and 494.53 ha of planted forest tended.
In addition, 92.61 ha of production forest were harvested, yielding 8,864 m3 of timber, while scattered trees contributed an estimated 832.4 m3 of timber.
