Hai Phong’s processing and manufacturing industry posts strong growth

Hai Phong’s industry maintained high growth in the first eight months of 2025.

Hai Phong’s index of industrial production (IIP) in August 2025 rose by 7.76% from the previous month and by 15.42% year-on-year, bringing the overall increase in the first eight months to 14.51%, the city Statistics Office reported on September 6.

Notably, the processing and manufacturing industry continued to play a leading role, with several sectors achieving high growth, including transport vehicle production (up 45.14%), motor vehicle manufacturing (30.18%), electrical equipment production (27.07%), and fabricated metal products (24.57%).

By region, the August IIP in East Hai Phong rose by 18.65% compared to the same period last year, while West Hai Phong grew by 11.6%. For the eight-month period, East Hai Phong was up 15.64% and West Hai Phong up 13.24%.

Several sectors made major contributions to overall growth, including electronics production (up 7.98%); electrical equipment (24.23%); motor vehicles (37.05%), with Vinfast electric cars in particular surging by 128.3% in the eight months; and food industry (16.17%). Garments and textiles, footwear, and fabricated metals also posted double-digit growth, making significant contributions to the city’s industry.
