The number of workers at Hai Phong-based industrial enterprises in August increased by 1.98% compared to the previous month and by 5.47% year-on-year, according to the Hai Phong Statistics Office. This indicates that industrial production continued to grow, creating more jobs and contributing to labor market stability.

Many processing, manufacturing, and high-tech industries recorded strong increases in labor use, notably shipbuilding with a surge of 37%, reflecting the recovery of orders and high demand for manpower.

Employment in the production of fabricated metal products grew by 19.37%, while electronics, computers, and optical products rose by 15.85%, highlighting the shift toward high-tech, high-value-added sectors. Meanwhile, furniture, chemicals, and chemical products also saw increases of 9 – 11%.

Overall, Hai Phong’s industrial employment continues to grow steadily but shows clear divergence. Traditional industries tend to see declining labor demand, while processing, manufacturing, and high-tech sectors keep expanding. This is a positive signal, reflecting the shift in the industrial labor structure toward modernization, and it underscores the need to strengthen training and upskilling to meet new development requirements.
