Hai Phong student wins gold medal at 2025 Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad
Doan Tuan Nghia, a 6th-grade student from Hai Phong city, has just won a gold medal at the 2025 Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO), his second gold medal this year.

On the morning of September 5, Vo Thi Sau Secondary School in Le Thanh Nghi ward, Hai Phong city announced that its student, Doan Tuan Nghia of class 6G, had received a congratulatory letter from the organizers of the HKIMO final round held in Hong Kong (China) for his outstanding achievement of winning a gold medal with an impressive score of 135 out of 150.
To achieve this result, Nghia had to surpass excellent contestants from 30 countries.
This is Nghia’s second international math Olympiad gold medal in 2025. Earlier, on February 23, he won a gold medal at the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) held in Thailand.

Both TIMO and HKIMO are prestigious mathematics competitions that attract students from many countries and territories.
By winning his second consecutive international math Olympiad gold medal, Nghia has earned a special invitation to compete in the World International Mathematical Olympiad (WIMO) final round, scheduled for January 2026.
According to the school’s leadership, Nghia’s achievement is the result of his own determination and effort, along with the support of his family and the dedication of his teachers. The school hopes his success will inspire other students to continue striving in their studies and training.
