Two major transport projects launched - new boost for western Hai Phong
Two major transport projects have just broken ground in the western region of Hai Phong, with a combined investment of more than 1.8 trillion VND.

A trillion-VND bridge
The project to build a bridge across the Thai Binh river and its approach roads as part of Ring Road I’s section from Provincial Road 391 to Provincial Road 390C has a total investment of over 1.228 trillion VND. The project site is located in Tan Hung and Nam Dong wards.
The groundbreaking of the bridge and approach roads raised new expectations for gradually completing Ring Road I, thereby expanding the urban space and improving connectivity between wards and communes, contributing to the socio-economic development of the western region in particular and the city as a whole.
The highlight of the project is the bridge over the Thai Binh river, stretching about 0.663 km. The bridge is designed with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete structures, with a cross-sectional width of 22.5 m.

The Nam Dong ward approach, connecting to Provincial Road 390C, is about 1.4 km long and will be built in phases.
The section from Provincial Road 391 to the bridge measures about 0.437 km, with a 22 m-wide road, a central median strip, and 0.5 m-wide shoulders on each side. The approach roads are designed to ensure smooth traffic connections to the bridge.
The project will also include intersections, drainage systems, traffic signals, lighting, and other supporting infrastructure.
A 600 billion VND bypass road

The project to construct a bypass for National Highway 37’s section passing through the former Gia Loc township (linking Thong Nhat bridge on National Highway 37 with Ring Road I) is being implemented in Gia Loc commune and Thach Khoi ward.
With a total investment of over 612 billion VND, the project is expected to create a route from the center of Gia Loc commune to Ring Road I and nearby provincial roads (Provincial Roads 393 and 395 and the frontage road of Ha Noi – Hai Phong expressway).
The route starts at km 45+633 of National Highway 37 (at the foot of Thong Nhat bridge) and ends at Ring Road I, with a total length of 5.402 km.

The project will also include intersections, lighting, traffic signals, drainage systems, sidewalks, and other supporting infrastructure, with traffic safety arrangements corresponding to the project’s scale.
Both projects were approved by the People’s Council of the former Hai Duong province and officially launched just over a month after the province’s merger with Hai Phong city. They are also among nine key projects selected by the Hai Phong People’s Committee to commence in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).
With a total investment of more than 1.8 trillion VND, these two projects are expected to create favorable conditions, unlock potential, and open up new growth space for Hai Phong, especially in the city’s western region.
