Hai Phong Party Committee’s Standing Members urges prompt actions in response to storm No. 5

Party committees, local authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations in Hai Phong city are required to take the initiative, strengthen direction, inspection, and response to storm No. 5.

On August 24, Standing Members of the Hai Phong Party Committee directed agencies, units, and members of the committee’s Standing Board to respond to storm No. 5 (internationally called Kajiki).

Accordingly, Party committees, local authorities, the city Vietnam Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations are required to enhance direction, supervision, and response to storm No. 5.

They must not be negligent or subjective, minimize damages, and intensify communication to ensure residents are well informed and prepared.

The Party Committee of the municipal People’s Committee must report to the Standing Members by 2 pm daily on the situation, leadership, direction, damages, and recovery efforts (if any) related to storm No. 5.

According to the 4 pm bulletin on August 24 from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the storm’s center was located at about 17.6°N latitude and 109.9°E longitude, approximately 470 km east-southeast of Nghe An, 450 km east-southeast of Ha Tinh, and 390 km east of northern Quang Tri.

The strongest winds near the center reached level 13 - 14 (134 – 166 km/h), with gusts up to level 17.

In the next three hours, the storm is predicted to move west-northwest at a speed of about 15 km/h.
