As part of the working program of a high-level Vietnamese delegation’s visit to the Republic of Korea in mid-August 2025, Hai Phong’s delegation, led by Secretary of the city Party Committee Le Tien Chau, held working sessions with many leading Korean conglomerates, businesses, and industrial associations.

Sharing information about Hai Phong’s vast potential following its merger with Hai Duong province, the Secretary expressed his hope that these corporations and associations would pay close attention, visit Hai Phong soon for surveys, and make investment decisions.

He also affirmed that in the process of cooperation and development with investors, Hai Phong is committed to maximum support, considering the success of businesses as the success of the city.

This is not the first time Hai Phong has taken the “pioneering” role in external affairs. In recent years, the city’s foreign relations have effectively supported and developed partnerships, integrating cooperation promotion activities with the promotion of the city’s investment environment.

Earlier in 2025, a delegation led by Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee, attended the 16th Meeting of the Joint Working Committee between four Northeastern border provinces of Vietnam and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, held in Quang Ninh province.

In 2024 alone, Hai Phong organized and co-organized more than 100 working programs, meetings, and investment promotion events, contributing to the development of relationships and the search for cooperation opportunities across various sectors.

Continuing the pioneering role

In recent years, the city’s external affairs have been proactively, comprehensively, creatively, and effectively implemented. Together with the efforts of organizations and businesses, Hai Phong has actively promoted economic diplomacy, significantly contributing to development and expanding cooperative relations with foreign partners and localities.

The city maintains close ties with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, and localities with cooperative relations with Hai Phong.

Thanks to the implementation of synchronous measures, Hai Phong has attracted many major corporations and business associations worldwide to explore and promote investment in the city, leading to the realization of numerous projects.

At present, the city hosts 1,730 foreign-invested projects from 44 countries and territories, with total registered capital of nearly 50 billion USD.

Notably, Hai Phong successfully organized an investment promotion conference within the framework of the 3rd Meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC III). At the event, the city granted investment certificates and memorandums of understanding on cooperation with a total value of over 15 billion USD.

According to Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong, in the context of rapidly evolving and complex global economic developments, economic diplomacy will continue to be identified as one of the city’s core and central tasks, making positive contributions to Hai Phong’s socio-economic development.

With its geo-economic and geopolitical advantages, increasingly open policies and investment environment, and especially the merger with Hai Duong, Hai Phong now has broader opportunities for external relations and international integration, enhancing trade promotion, connectivity, and sustainable development.
