Vietnam – Korea cultural exchanges spread beautiful image of Hai Phong city
Lively drumbeats, graceful dances, resounding songs at the City Opera House Square, and delicate calligraphy strokes have together created vivid pictures of Vietnam – Korea cultural exchanges in Hai Phong city in recent times.

Elevating cultural diplomacy
The Hai Phong Literature and Arts Association has recently organized a Vietnam – Korea calligraphy exchange program with many meaningful experiential activities.
Attending the event, writer and calligrapher Pyo Seon Hee was impressed with the unique traditional culture of Hai Phong in particular and Vietnam in general, and hoped to participate in more cultural exchange activities in Hai Phong to foster mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries and to continue introducing and promoting Korean calligraphy.

During the 2025 Flamboyant Flower Festival and the ceremony honoring Hai Phong as a Heroic City, the City Opera House Square was enlivened by performances of the Bujihwa Art Troupe from South Korea. The troupe also staged exchange performances at various venues across the city.
Drummer Pyo Suna, Director of the PSA International Institute for Research and Performance and leader of the Modern Percussion Ensemble of Bujihwa Art Troupe, said: “Through every drumbeat and every dance step, we convey our wish to connect people and cultures, overcoming all geographical distances.”

Vietnam – Korea cultural exchange programs are not only impressive artistic moments but also practical activities by Hai Phong to make cultural diplomacy a pillar of international integration associated with sustainable development.
Promoting bridges of connection
Recently, the city has welcomed the Chuncheon Duturu Nongak Art Preservation Association, an organization dedicated to preserving the Samulnori drum dance, and organized several photo exhibitions showcasing the beauty of South Korea’s friendship cities. Behind this diverse lineup of events was the close coordination of the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, as well as friendship organizations and cultural and art associations.
In Hai Phong, the Vietnam – Korea Cultural Center at Bach Nghe College regularly organizes Korean language classes, community activities, and educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

According to the city’s cultural diplomacy strategy to 2030, cultural diplomacy is not just a series of isolated events but a regular, focused task, closely linked with socio-economic development planning and the international integration strategy.
Hai Phong aims to mobilize the combined strength of all levels, sectors, communities, and international partners; organize activities flexibly, creatively, effectively, and economically; while widely introducing the city’s image, identity, and potential.
Through Vietnam – Korea cultural exchange programs, Hai Phong is building bridges of connection, opening up cooperation opportunities, attracting resources, and spreading the open spirit of a coastal city reaching out to the world.
