Hai Phong residents gain access to new method for liver cancer screening and diagnosis
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the liver with hepatocyte-specific contrast agents is an advanced diagnostic imaging technique that opens new opportunities for early detection and treatment of liver diseases.

Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital held a seminar on “Liver MRI with hepatocyte-specific contrast agents” on the afternoon of August 14.
This is a modern, advanced imaging method that offers many new opportunities in detecting and treating liver diseases, particularly liver cancer, at an early stage.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen The May, Deputy Director of Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital, emphasized the importance of applying advanced diagnostic methods in clinical practice, especially in the context that liver cancer remains one of the leading causes of death in Vietnam.

At the workshop, the hospital’s experienced speakers shared new information on liver diseases, providing practical experience in using hepatocyte-specific contrast agents in Vietnam, along with clear clinical evidence to help doctors easily apply the technique in practice.
Among the topics presented, “Updated recommendations on liver tumor diagnosis with Gadoxetic acid” was highlighted as a key point, as Gadoxetic acid is a hepatocyte-specific contrast agent that enhances MRI images of the liver, allowing for the detection of smaller and earlier lesions compared to conventional methods.

The outstanding advantage of this method is its ability to detect very small liver lesions, increase accuracy in liver tumor classification, support doctors in selecting the most appropriate treatment regimen, and improve the chances of successful treatment.
This technique is of great value given the persistently high rate of liver cancer in Vietnam in general and in Hai Phong in particular, opening up opportunities for earlier and more effective treatment for patients.
