Upgraded infrastructure
In 2025, the former Thanh Mien district allocated nearly 9 billion VND to comprehensively upgrade several key facilities in Dao Co eco-tourism area. One of the highlights is the expansion of the access road to Dao Co, widened from 4 m to 7.5 m, improving convenience and safety for visitors.
New features such as an LED lighting system and a wooden pier for cruise boats are taking shape, contributing to a more modern and civilized look. The entire project is expected to be completed and operational by the end of August.

According to Vu Van Nguyen, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nam Thanh Mien commune, the renovation and upgrading of Dao Co eco-tourism area not only improves traffic but also helps complete the region's technical infrastructure, enhances service quality, and draw more tourists.
Before the merger with Hai Phong, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province had spent 45 billion VND expanding islets 3A and 3B and building a new one, 4C. The embankments around the islets help prevent erosion and land loss, while the upgraded road around An Duong lake facilitates both ecological management and visitor access.

Clean agriculture combined with eco-tourism
Blessed with a diverse ecosystem, Nam Thanh Mien commune has also successfully developed clean agriculture and traditional craft villages, creating an attractive chain of eco-tourism values.
A standout destination is Phong Co Farm, which combines organic agriculture with experiential tourism. Covering around 5,000 m2, owner Vu Van Phong has grown clean vegetables, cherry tomatoes, and melons and raised pigs and chickens organically. The farm attracts hundreds of tourist groups annually, especially in the autumn and spring.

The space is creatively and intimately arranged, blending environmental education with hands-on experiences. Currently, Phong is expanding the farming area to plant new melon varieties and imported water lilies, adding visual highlights to the landscape.
Hoi Yen noodle village is a source of pride for Nam Thanh Mien residents and is developing in a green, clean, and sustainable direction. Its noodle has been recognized as a 3-star OCOP product and exported to several countries. Many tourists visit the village not only to enjoy the traditional flavors but also to join in making the noodle and learn about the village’s unique manual production process.

In 2022, a lotus flower farming model was launched on nearly 10 acres next to Dao Co, creating a blooming lotus field every summer. This has become a favorite check-in spot for photography and has enriched the local eco-tourism offering.
Today, Dao Co is not only a tourist destination but also a unique ecological conservation area. Aware of this, the surrounding community actively works together to preserve the natural environment.

“It is the community’s sense of responsibility and the local management team that has greatly contributed to protecting Dao Co and maintaining its pristine beauty and biodiversity,” said Vu Van Nguyen.
