According to the Hai Phong Urban Infrastructure and Economic and Industrial Zone Construction Project Management Board, more than 80% of the work on the Nam Dinh Vu coastal dyke construction project, part of Dinh Vu–Cat Hai Economic Zone, was completed as of early August.
Contractors are currently focusing manpower, materials, and equipment on finishing the remaining work and finalizing project settlement documents before December 31, 2025.
Based on the revised design and cost estimates, the Nam Dinh Vu coastal dyke project (second adjustment) has a total length of 12,769 m, running from point K2+253 to K15+022 (where it intersects with Tan Vu–Lach Huyen road), passing through Dong Hai 2 and Trang Cat wards in the former Hai An district. The project covers a total land area of 77.07 ha.
The project has been underway since 2011 and is expected to be completed in 2025. It is managed by the Hai Phong Urban Infrastructure and Economic and Industrial Zone Construction Project Management Board, with a total investment of nearly 2.3 trillion VND, sourced from the Central and municipal budgets as well as other lawful sources, including contributions from businesses.
Once completed and put into use, the dyke will help prevent storms and floods, protecting lives, property, and production facilities of both domestic and foreign entities on Dinh Vu peninsula. It will also contribute to the sustainable development of Dinh Vu–Cat Hai Economic Zone in line with the mission approved by the Prime Minister, while enhancing national defense and security along Hai Phong’s coastal area.
