A delegation from the Hai Phong Department of Health, led by Associate Professor Dr. Le Minh Quang, Director of the department, held a working session with Gia Loc Medical Center and the city Center for Disease Control (CDC) on the afternoon of July 31 on organizational structure, personnel, infrastructure, finance, and professional activities following the recent merger of Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province.

As a grade II medical center, Gia Loc Medical Center has 17 departments and 14 health stations. The center employs a total of 390 healthcare workers, including 59 doctors.

In the first half of 2025, the facility received nearly 66,000 outpatient visits, treated more than 5,700 inpatients, performed over 630 surgeries, and achieved a 98% bed occupancy rate. The center maintains a dialysis unit with 20 hemodialysis machines, treating an average of 90 patients daily with a capacity of three shifts per day.

Leaders of Gia Loc Medical Center called on the city People’s Committee, the Department of Health, and relevant departments to promptly implement a previously approved infrastructure renovation project due to the deteriorating condition of the center’s facilities. They also requested support in acquiring essential medical equipment to better meet patient demand and improve professional quality.

The Director of the Department of Health urged the center to continue upgrading the expertise and skills of its medical staff to keep pace with rising healthcare needs. In the immediate term, he directed the center to review all allocated and recurring funds to balance and facilitate the purchase of urgently needed medical equipment.

That same day, the health department’s delegation also held a working session with the city CDC.

After the merger, the CDC now has two facilities in the eastern and western regions of the city. It comprises 15 departments and employs 268 healthcare professionals, with nearly 84% holding university or postgraduate degrees.

As the frontline agency in infectious disease prevention and control, the Director of the Department of Health emphasized the need for CDC staff to remain vigilant in their preventive efforts. He called for thorough assessments and effective proposals to enhance the city’s ongoing disease prevention initiatives.
