Hai Phong to increase investment in education, focusing on gifted learners
Nguyen Huu Thanh from Tran Phu High School for the Gifted in Hai Phong city won a silver medal for Vietnam at the 2025 International Biology Olympiad.

The People's Committee of Hai Phong city held a ceremony on July 29 afternoon to commend and reward students and teachers who achieved outstanding results at the 2025 International Biology Olympiad.
The 36th olympiad, recently held in the Philippines, saw four Vietnamese students win four medals: one gold, two silver, and one bronze. Nguyen Huu Thanh, representing Tran Phu High School for the Gifted in Hai Phong, earned one of the silver medals.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the city People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung praised Thanh, his school, his teachers, the local education sector, and his family for supporting him in achieving this excellent result. Thanh's silver medal contributed to Vietnam’s ranking among the top 10 countries with the highest scores at this year’s competition.
This is a remarkable achievement and a vivid testament to the quality of Hai Phong's education system and the city’s growing capacity for international integration.

Hai Phong is entering a new phase of development, especially after its merger with Hai Duong province, which has elevated it to become the third-largest administrative and economic center in the country.
In this context, high-quality human resources are considered a key, decisive factor. Therefore, the city will continue to prioritize and significantly increase investment in education, particularly in gifted education and talent development.

The younger generation, especially students with talent, innovation, and global outlook, are seen as the successors and pillars for Hai Phong’s fast, sustainable, and comprehensive development in the future.

On this occasion, Nguyen Huu Thanh was awarded a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the city People’s Committee along with a reward of 400 million VND.
His teacher, Vu Thi Thu Huyen, who directly mentored him, also received a certificate of merit and 200 million VND.
The team of teachers who coached the national team, along with the board of management of Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, were awarded 120 million VND.
