Over 12,000 visitors to Con Son – Kiep Bac World Heritage Site during 2026 New Year holiday

During the 2026 New Year holiday, the Con Son – Kiep Bac World Cultural Heritage Site welcomed more than 12,000 visitors, a sharp increase compared to the same period last year.

A ceremony commemorating the 635th anniversary of the death of Tu Do Chuong Tuc Quoc Thuong Hau Tran Nguyen Dan was held at Thanh Hu Temple, part of the Con Son – Kiep Bac World Heritage Site, on January 2 (or November 14th according to Lunar calendar).

According to the Con Son – Kiep Bac Relic Management Board, during the four-day holiday (from January 1 to 4), the total number of visitors to relic sites under its management reached approximately 14,700, an increase of 159% compared to the same period of the 2025 New Year holiday.

The Con Son – Kiep Bac World Cultural Heritage Site welcomed more than 12,000 visitors. The Thanh Mai Pagoda World Cultural Heritage Site received around 570 visitors. The Kinh Mon relic cluster attracted approximately 990 visitors, while the Cam Giang relic cluster welcomed about 1,000 visitors.

According to the Management Board, the sharp increase in visitor numbers was driven by several favorable factors, as this is the first year that the Con Son – Kiep Bac relic site and Thanh Mai Pagoda, part of the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac complex recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site. Technical infrastructure, landscape, and services have been comprehensively invested in and upgraded, creating strong appeal for visitors.

The four-day New Year holiday, favorable weather conditions, and the first year after the merger of Hai Duong and Hai Phong also contributed to attracting large numbers of visitors from eastern areas and outside Hai Phong city, who chose Con Son – Kiep Bac as a destination for sightseeing and worship.
