Every year, especially in July, the provincial armed forces organize a series of grateful activities for meritorious people and policy families.
The Military Command of Tu Ky district, the Youth Union of the provincial Agencies' Bloc, and the district Youth Union jointly hand over the "house of gratitude" to soldier Phung Van Phuong in Quang Trung commune
With the moral principle "When drinking water, remember its origin," together with Party committees and authorities at all levels, Hai Duong provincial armed forces have had many practical activities to express gratitude to meritorious people and policy families.
Joy in new homes
Present at a ceremony to inaugurate and hand over a "house of gratitude" to Tran Thi Dung, a martyr's wife in Tong Xa residential area, Thai Thinh ward, Kinh Mon provincial town, we clearly felt the joy of the house owner.
Dung had to live in a makeshift house for many years under difficult circumstances. She has four children, but all of them are not well off.
Knowing her situation, in April 2021, the provincial town Military Command sent officers to the locality to grasp the situation and make a plan to request the provincial authorities and Military Region 3 to support Dung with house construction.
Thanks to VND80 million offered by Military Region 3 and the provincial Military Command and her family's assistance, the "house of gratitude" for her was completed and put into use on July 20.
In the process of construction, the provincial town armed forces also helped Dung's family with more than 50 workdays for site clearance and house cleaning.
There are many difficulties in the situation of soldier Phung Van Phuong in Cau Xe hamlet, Quang Trung commune, Tu Ky district. Phuong's family lives below the poverty line, his father died early, his mother cannot work, and his two younger siblings are of school age.
In 2020, Phuong voluntarily joined the army. At present, he is being stationed at Brigade 26 of the Air Defense - Air Force Armed Service. His family's 4th-grade house was deteriorated but could not be repaired or rebuilt.
The district Military Command coordinated with the Youth Union of the provincial Agencies' Bloc and the district Youth Union to support Phuong's family with VND50 million and 30 workdays for house construction.
The support was not much but motivated Phuong's family to borrow more to replace the old house. His family moved to the new house this July.
Timely care
To take care of policy beneficiaries, for years, the provincial Military Command has mobilized all officers and soldiers to well implement gratitude repaying activities and coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to review and grasp the situation of policy beneficiaries for support with house construction.
Apart from regular activities like solving regimes and policies for meritorious people, finding and gathering the remains of martyrs, every year, especially in July, the provincial armed forces organize a series of grateful activities, pay visits, present gifts, capital, and seeds, build or repair houses, provide medical examination and medicine, etc., for meritorious people and policy families.
In the face of complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, units do not organize crowded activities, but many suitable issues have still been implemented and maintained.
On the occasion of this year's July 27, the provincial armed forces have assisted meritorious people with the construction of three "houses of gratitude," presented more than 100 gifts to policy beneficiaries in the province, offered more than 500 workdays to repair and clean martyrs' cemeteries, build roads, etc. for localities with a total value of over VND300 million.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Vinh, Deputy Commissar of the Military Command of Kinh Mon provincial town, said to realize the provincial Military Command's direction, the unit had closely coordinated with local authorities to review and grasp the situation of families of policy beneficiaries in the locality to promptly propose support of disadvantaged cases.
The unit is currently taking care of one heroic Vietnamese mother. On every holiday, New Year, and Invalids and Martyrs' Day, it organizes visits, gift presentation, and medical examination and treatment for policy beneficiaries.
This year's July 27, apart from requesting support from superiors to build a "house of gratitude," the provincial town Military Command has also organized two teams to visit and give gifts to 14 typical policy beneficiaries, and the provincial town armed forces have contributed more than 120 workdays to repairing and cleaning all martyrs' cemeteries for localities.
The practical deeds of armed forces in the province have shown the affection and responsibility of soldiers nowadays for the sacrifice and dedication of previous generations for the cause of national construction and defense.
