Traffic was sparse on Nguyen Binh Khiem Street in Hai An Ward amid the intense heat.

According to the Hai Phong Hydro -meteorological Station, the scorching weather has been caused by the influence of a western low-pressure hot zone.

Relative humidity was forecast at 45-50%, while hot weather could persist in some areas on May 28 before easing from May 29, when heatwave conditions are expected to end across the city.

Areas including Hai Duong, Cam Giang, Tu Ky, Ninh Giang, Thanh Mien, Kim Thanh, Chi Linh, Kinh Mon and Thanh Ha were forecast to record temperatures of 37-39 degrees Celsius on May 27.

Meanwhile, Thuy Nguyen, Le Chan, Hai An, Kien An, An Duong, An Lao, Tien Lang and Vinh Bao were expected to see temperatures of 36-38 degrees Celsius, while Do Son, Duong Kinh and Cat Hai were forecast at 35-37 degrees Celsius.

Prolonged exposure to high temperatures may also cause dehydration, exhaustion and heatstroke.

On May 26, Hai Phong recorded widespread extreme heat, with temperatures ranging from 35 to 39.8 degrees Celsius and relative humidity falling to 39-42%.
