Hai Phong debuts Hoa Phuong theatre with Gala “New Year Concert 2026”

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh; Pham Tat Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Mass Mobilization; Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ngo Phuong Lan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Association for Promotion and Development of Cinema; Nguyen Trung Khanh, Head of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism; and Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Head of the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Representing Hai Phong were Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee; Le Ngoc Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee; Do Manh Hien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Le Van Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Council; and Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, along with members of the City Party Standing Committee, former Hai Phong City leader, former Hai Duong Province leaders and representatives of central agencies, partners, enterprises and artists.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Le Ngoc Chau said the investment and inauguration of Hoa Phuong Theatre demonstrates the city’s determination to develop cultural industries and complete a modern cultural infrastructure system, while implementing policies aimed at making culture a driver for the city’s sustainable development.

The theatre is designed with contemporary architecture and equipped with modern facilities to host large-scale performances, including symphony concerts, opera productions and national and international cultural events. The project also supports Hai Phong’s long-term goal of becoming a creative city in music and gradually integrating into UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network.

The city plans to expand cooperation with major artistic institutions, including the Ho Guom Opera House, the Vietnam National Academy of Music and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, in order to bring high-quality artistic programs to local audiences.

Following the inauguration, “New Year Concert 2026” was performed with the participation of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra and leading Vietnamese artists. The orchestra was conducted by Meritorious Artist Kim Xuan Hieu, with People’s Artist Bui Cong Duy as violin soloist. The program was structured in two parts, combining Vietnamese works and international classical repertoire.

Hai Phong authorities said the inauguration of Hoa Phuong Theatre marks the beginning of a new phase in Hai Phong’s cultural development and is expected to elevate the city’s profile as a venue for major artistic events.
