The Con Son - Kiep Bac Festival gives younger generations an opportunity to explore heritage, learn about history and foster their love for their fatherland.

Pride in national roots

The 2026 Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival is taking place in a special atmosphere, marking the 726th death anniversary of National Hero Tran Hung Dao and the 584th death anniversary of National Hero and World Cultural Figure Nguyen Trai. This is the second festival season since the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Scenic Landscapes was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site.

Many schools and families have organized trips for students to visit and experience the heritage site. Through these activities, students not only explore the landscape and cultural spaces but also learn about stories of historical figures and important milestones in the history of building and defending the country.

Ahead of the festival, in late August 2026, Huu Nghi International Senior High School in Le Chan Ward organized a trip for 108 11th-grade students to Con Son - Kiep Bac. Instead of acquiring knowledge solely from textbooks, the students spent a day immersed in a historical setting that preserves many traces associated with prominent figures in the nation’s history.

During the festival, many families also brought their children to visit and experience the Con Son - Kiep Bac heritage site. Pham Quy Son from Dong Viet Commune, Bac Ninh City, brought his three children to the festival.

Son and his wife had attended the festival many times, but this was the first time they had brought their children along, as the children were now old enough to appreciate the historical and cultural values of the heritage site. Through each activity, stories about their ancestors became more familiar to the children, helping them gain a deeper understanding of national traditions.

Spreading love for the fatherland

While field trips help students get closer to heritage, educational and experiential activities in various settings continue to bring historical and cultural values to younger generations.

On this occasion, Tran family in Hai Phong has organized a trip for children who were outstanding students to offer incense and pay tribute to national heroes at the Con Son - Kiep Bac World Cultural Heritage site.

According to Tran Son, a representative of the trip organizing committee, for the students, the trip not only expressed gratitude to their ancestors but also provided an opportunity to learn about and reflect on the traditions of their families and clans, and more broadly, national traditions. This sense of pride gives them additional motivation to study and train themselves, behave well, excel academically, follow the example of their ancestors and contribute to building their fatherland.

Unable to take students to the Con Son - Kiep Bac Festival, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union branch at Quang Trung Primary School in An Quang Commune adopted its own approach by organizing an exchange program to learn about the festival under the theme “Following the flow of history - Pride in Hai Phong’s heritage.”

Through the program, students learned about national heroes and the historical and cultural values of the heritage site, helping raise their awareness of the tradition of “remembering the source when drinking water,” as well as the importance of preserving the landscape and behaving in a civilized manner.

Whether visiting the Con Son - Kiep Bac Festival or learning about heritage through activities at school, students from Hai Phong and other localities are being connected with history and inspired to develop patriotism and national pride. This pride further motivates today’s younger generation to strive in their studies and self-development and contribute to building an increasingly prosperous and beautiful fatherland.
